Although I had some grand plans for this week, I am finding that I am needed in other ways by my extended family. Both of my sister in laws have had to put their beloved dogs down, which has been heartbreaking. Along with this, my sister in law and brother in law have found out that his dad is terminally ill with cancer. I have found myself on the telephone often this week issuing prayers and comforting words to my hurting family.
I am blessed and feel honored that I am able to minister words of comfort to hurting hearts. Often times I forget how central my home is to being center of ministry for God. I don’t have to travel to other countries, join a group in a church, or spend time away from my family to touch hearts for Him. In fact, I have so many ministry opportunities from within my own home that I would pass up if I did those things!
Today my children and I are preparing baskets of goodies to deliver as we make a round of visits to both families. Hopefully we can share the light of Christ as we do.
Yes, I had grand plans for my week. I had projects to do, rooms to clean, and many other things I wanted to get done. Yet, God has seen fit to use my otherwise this week, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!
The Scripture from Ecclesiastes 3:1-15 has been on my heart this week:
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
There truly is a time for everything. May I always use my time for God and not for my own!
