If you are a homeschooling mom, you know how quickly the stacks of papers, books, and supplies can overtake your home! I have tried several methods to contain all of our home school items so that we are not spending more time looking for something than we do actually learning and finally has found what that works out well for us.
For each of my children I purchased clear Sterlite containers that have a handle. We call these our “school buckets”. In each bucket they have all the items they need to do school-plenty of paper, pencils, scissors, glue etc. We can fit most of our books and supplies in these buckets.
At the beginning of the school day, each child gets their home school bucket from the cabinet. At the end of the day, each child puts their items back into the bucket and back into the cabinet. This has helped us so much in being more productive because we are not losing items and looking for them. It also helps contain their work areas during the day, as they can take out the subject they are working on and then put it away when they are done. I also keep folders in there for finished work, that way when I need to correct their work or check something I can just go into the bucket and get out what I need.
Here is a peek at our buckets:
When the buckets get full, we take some time to organize and file away what is needed!

Sweet idea. I have two of those empty “buckets” sitting on my shelf in my bedroom. I wonder if we could incorporate that into our routing. Hmmmmm…

I’ve been contemplating this for a while and think the ‘buckets’ will be on my shopping list for this next year. I’m tired of the boys “losing” their books and want more clutter control before our next big family change later this year.
BTW ~ found you through the Ultimate Blog Party. What a great way to find out about other great blog sites.

Cool! Much better than using plastic WalMart or Food Lion bags…which is what is in use at our house at the moment.
I love it; great idea!
