There’s a mouse in my house.
When Shannon blogged about it, I thought it was funny.
Guess who isn’t laughing anymore?
Any suggestions on what will work for me in getting rid of the cute little germ infested thing?

My passion is to encourage women to embrace and excel in their high callings as wives, mothers, homemakers and women of God. We have a lot to do in a day, and my hope is that I can encourage and equip you to not only finish the laundry, cook dinner, manage your home and love your husband, but to bring glory to God in the process. Embrace your calling- it is noble, it is worthy, it is glorious.

my cat brought the mouse in and let it go.
Not sure if you like cats…How about getting one? It could be the answer to getting rid of mice
Otherwise, i would also think that snap traps will work very well.

Great article… you answered some of my questions, thanks a bunch!
I wrote about our escapade with mice a week or so ago. We had a momma mouse in our house and we caught her easily enough with a no-kill trap baited with peanut butter, she crawled in and the doors closed shut. Unfortunately, she left behind her babies and they were a menace to catch, too small for any of the number of traps as they didn’t weigh enough! We eventually put out sticky traps, which are basically a sticky sheet that they run on to and can’t get off. They worked like a charm!
There is a poison called d-con and it is sold in little packets or blocks. The mice eat it and after about a week or less they start to die. But they die outside. My husband explained that they get so thirsty for water that they run outside looking for it and die. The mouse might get a little more active at first because they like the poison but it does take care of them for awhile. We got rid of all of ours but now have another one back. Country living I guess!
Snap traps, definitely. Bait with peanut butter and put the set trap in a paper grocery bag turned on its side on the floor. After you hear the snap (or you push the bag with your toe and it feels heavier), just pick up the bag and drop in the outside trash. This is about as ick-free as you can possibly catch a mouse!
SNAP TRAPS! You need to set them up along baseboards, under sinks, wherever you think the mice are. And even places you don’t think they are! Make sure the baited end is next to the wall or corner, or wherever they would actually run. Use peanut butter to bait the traps, and make sure you spread it ONLY on the top part so the mouse has to really get in there to get at it!
We had our first mouse ever this year…and like you, I was less than happy about it! When I talked to an exterminator, he said snap traps were the way to go…poison is bad for the enviornment and for any kids or pets who are in the house, and the glue traps cause the mouse to urinate LOTS…which apparently is the way mice can spread disease…by releasing bodily fluids. Also, it takes a long time for them to die in the glue traps…yuck!
Good luck…we caught out mouse the first night! Thank God!
