Thank you for your patience while I took a break from The Homemakers Haven over the holiday season. I am definitely ready to get back on track with making my home a warm and inviting place for my family! Thank you to those of you who emailed me and asked if I would be continuing this weekly feature. The answer is YES! I am amazed at how much more I get done when I plan and prepare my week, and posting this on my blog keeps me accountable for doing just that! I appreciate everyone who participates so much and I am always so encouraged by your comments and posts on your blogs as you do this challenge. If you are new to this challenge, please go here to learn how to participate.
Now onto our challenge this week. Let’s get started!
Prayer
Start your day out right by spending some time in God’s Word and asking Him to guide your day. I am currently reading through 1 Peter and have been greatly inspired by this book. If you have time, take a moment to journal your thoughts and prayers for the day.
Complete Your Morning Routine
I just revamped my morning routine this past week and am working on establishing some new habits this year. If you don’t have a morning routine, take a few moments to write out some goals that you will accomplish in order, each morning. This has helped me stay on track in the mornings and I find that I start my day out much more peacefully and orderly if I stick with a routine each morning. Don’t do anything else until you complete your routine for the morning!
Plan Your Time
Think about your schedule for the day and write out a simple to do list. I am also trying out a new system for daily planning by using a simple weekly/monthly planner I purchased at Walmart. It is compact and easy to use. Each month I fill out scheduled events, and then each day I write out a list of things to do. The compact size helps me keep my list manageable! Here are some things to consider:
What are some important tasks to accomplish today?
What phone calls, errands and commitments do you have this week?
What ways can you plan ahead for the week to make it flow better?
What’s on your to-do list today?
Plan Your Menu
Ok, if you are not a menu planner atleast take a moment to think about what is for dinner tonight. Is there something you need to unthaw or prepare ahead?
What’s for dinner tonight?
Plan A Project
Is there something that you can do this week to make your home a more peaceful and inviting place to be? A project you have put off?
This week I am tackling my master bedroom. I never got to it in the last challenge, so it remains at the top of my priority list! Here are my plans for this week:
1. Hang curtains
2. Clean out bureau
3. Organize desk area
4. Hang pictures
5. Shop the house for items to make it cozier and more relaxing.
What is your project for this challenge?
May God bless your efforts today as you make your home a haven for your family! I am planning on 15 minutes per day to focus on my master bedroom this week. I will post some before and after pictures of my project. If you have a chance and a blog, post some before and after pictures too!

Yes, yes, yes!! I’m so happy that you’re back with this. It is the THE reason I began trying to be a diligent housewife again after months of being lazy and not wanting to follow His word. So thank you so much. I didn’t find this until now so I will be posting my Homemakers Haven tomorrow. Again, thank you so much for doing this. You’re doing His work by spreading the word on a glorifying the home.
Can’t wait to keep up with this!
Jennifer
