Goals 2009: Monthly Update for February

by Stephanie on February 4, 2009

*I don’t know what is going on with my fonts for this post, I have tried and tried to fix them and they are still very wierd! It is driving me crazy, but I have already spent far too long trying to fix it to no avail!*

I almost forgot my goal to post a goal update each month! Thank goodness other wonderful bloggers like Crystal keep me on track around here :)

So how did I do so far? Well I will have to admit, January has been a very trying month but I still managed to accomplish some things. Here’s how I did:

:: Seek God in all matters, take every thought captive

My goal was to seek the Lord more often in my day. I tried to do this by thinking of Him, praying, or praising Him each time I entered my kitchen. I haven’t stuck with this as much but I have been having some wonderfully sweet times of fellowship with the Lord like I haven’t had in a long time. I have had to rely on Him more this month than ever before, so remembering to seek has almost come easier than in better times!

::Memorize large portions of Scripture

We finally finished Matthew chapter 5, and are now moving on to chapter 6! Praise the Lord!

::Learn at least one hymn per month

We memorized Rescue The Perishing by Fanny Crosby and are now on Is Your All On The Altar by Elisah A. Hoffman. I get choked up almost everytime we go to sing this hymn, but I am learning it! It is beautiful!

::Budgeting and baby steps

This one has been a little more difficult to accomplish for January because of some unforseen circumstances, but we are all set to get on track for February. We did manage to save $50 though, which is a start!

::Establish a book list and read atleast one book a week

Done! You can view the books I read in January here.

::Establish heart checks with my children

 I have enjoyed some special times with my children as we have banded together in prayer. I haven’t spent as much one on one time with them as planned though. I have two outlined and coming along nicely. Now my goal is to have them both done this month!

::Focus on rebuilding our marriage

January was tough and we had a few setbacks. But I am determined to walk out what God’s Word says for my marriage. We are still meeting weekly with two other couples, and I am working on applying unconditional love in my marriage regardless of the circumstances. You can read more about my thoughts on that here.

::Do a craft fair with my girls

 I have not completed any projects for this as of yet, but my girls have. The only problem is they sold them all this weekend. We will have to work on rebuilding the stash again! Our goal is for October, so we still have time.

 ::Write and publish an ebook (or several perhaps?)

I have two outlined and they are coming along nicely! I hope to have them done by the end of February.

I am so glad that I made my goals public to keep me accountable! How are you doing with your goals so far?

Wow – I can so relate! I have been so ungrateful so many times in my life…thank you for sharing this with us today. It is so easy to be discontent and unsatisfied with our spouses, children and the things the Lord allows to come into our lives. I am so thankful :-) the Lord continues to be gracious to us and speaks to us through our family, friends and His Word. He is good! Thank you so much for sharing your heart with us today…
