The Homemakers Haven: I’m Running Late And The House Is A Mess Edition!

Good morning all! This morning I woke up late, even though I was determined to get up super early and get a head start on my day!

 We are getting pummeled with another huge snowstorm, so we are all housebound today. My husband let me sleep in, and even met me with a hot cup of coffee! Who can complain?

I am readjusting my plans for the day since my husband is home, but I still have lots of things to do, beginning with this messy kitchen.

 I have to force myself to take a day of rest each week. It is so hard for me to do. The interesting thing is as messy as this looks, it all can be cleaned up in less than an hour.

Since my morning routine is out the window at this point, I am going to joyfully start where I am! I hope you can join me. Oh and just for fun, I decided to tweet my progress today, so if you are on twitter follow me to the chat room here and post with #homemakershaven.

Okay, let’s get started!:

:: Time in God’s Word

 If you haven’t already, take time to read a portion of Scripture and pray for your home, your family and your day.  Even if you are having a late start and a change of plans as I am today, it is still so important to begin your day with God’s Word! (I am telling myself this as well!). Instead of being frazzled and frustrated, I am praying for peace and direction! Making my home a haven is directly connected to my attitude and outlook for the day.  This saying is so true, “If momma ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”

So before you do anything else today, take time to refresh your spirit in the Lord!

:: Make A Plan

I usually have a planning day on the weekends in which I plan my menu, shopping list, clip coupons, plans for home schooling and an overview of my week. I didn’t get to do that this weekend, so today I will have my planning day.  I will come back later and share my plans, and if I get a chance, some of the planning pages that I use in the process.

**Project: If you have a blog, post your plans for this week. Do you have a planning time each week? How do you prepare for your upcoming week? If you don’t have a blog, you are welcome to leave a comment and share it. If you do have a blog, share in the comments with us!

:: Pick A Project, And Get Started!

I am planning on simply getting my house back in order, and I pray we don’t lose power during this storm today! I am filling up water jugs and my bathtubs, since we have been totally unprepared the last two times we lost power. I kept thinking of the virtuous woman in Proverbs 31 and what she would have done in a storm. I know preparing in advance is one of the most admirable qualities about this woman, so today I will be preparing for a possible power outage. I try to be prepared in advance for things, but it is not one of my strong points!

I’ll be posting my pictures and telling you more about what I did for the challenge today (Lord willing!) in a later post. I’m off to get started!

If you are participating in The Homemakers Haven today, please leave your link in the comments because I can’t get Mr. Linky to work again! Happy Homemaking!

I’d like to follow you on Twitter but when I’m not sure how to find you on there.

What a sweet hubby, coffee! My hubby made me some strawberries on Saturday to cheer me up, I’ve been battling the flu for a week now. Hope you can get to all the things on your list with everyone home. Our kids went to school and were just sent home early. So the house is full and I have tons to do as well! Enjoy your day. Hope it’s a good one!
