Putting On Humility

As long as I remain large in my own eyes, I will never sense the importance of other people because I can’t see them. My own self blocks my view . I’m too busy staring at myself. My needs. My wants. My plans. That’s all that matters to me. But when I put on humlity, I fade from view, setting mself free to become a servant. Then my life can touch and change those whom God brings into my life.

From the book Living With Less by Mark Tabb

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit,

but in humility consider others better than yourselves.

Phillipians 2:3

How powerful! I’ve been working to be more focused on my husband and his tasks so that I wont become selfish. I find that if I put my family first I can avoid this. I’m still a work in progress. I hope you get a chance to stop by and enjoy my one year blog party and giveaways!!

Great post! I struggle with thinking of my own feelings too often. I have trouble taking things too personally sometimes and I think in the greater picture that means I am valuing myself too much. I have struggled greatly with a group that I’m involved with that when my son had surgery never offered to bring meals or anything like that. It really hurt my feelings because I felt as if people didn’t care even though there were others (not in that group) that reached out in different ways. I pray that God helps me be more humble and not be so easily offended and hurt. As a friend told me, at least I’m seeing what I need to improve but I’d rather it get improved instantly! LOL I guess I’m not very patient. :)
God bless,
Amanda
