It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like….

Christmas

Well not like snow and ice. But some stores are pulling out their Christmas displays. Yes, already.

Christmas is only 12 weeks away folks. Yep, the most expensive time of the year. But as Dave Ramsey says:

Christmas is  always in December; therefore it is not an emergency.

It isn’t too early to start planning your budget and gift giving plans for Christmas. My husband and I discussed ours this weekend, made up a tentative gift list and we feel good knowing we have a plan. A cash plan, I’ll add! And we are now seeking ways to “find” extra money outside of our normal budget to stash away.

Christmas doesn’t have to be expensive to be fun and memorable, and planning ahead goes a long way to keeping costs down.

Have  you begun planning for Christmas yet? What are some creative ways  you fund  Christmas gifts?

Be sure to visit Frugal Friday for lots of money saving ideas!

I am sewing most of the gifts this year. I have a lot of sewing to get done! Besides Christmas, I have a child who has a birthday coming up, who also needs some new clothes as soon as it gets cold in a couple of weeks!

Some of my gifts will be printed. I will be printing paper dolls and paper toys for my children as well (at least that’s quick!).

Here are some links I have to frugal gifts, including the printable dolls and toys:

I also have a page for home sewn gifts that might help you. There are also several links on there for things that you can make from clothing that you already have, as well as dolls, etc:

We decided to do all our Christmas shopping online this year. We have a checking account that gives us 2 miles for every dollar we spend. We are really close to having enough miles for our vacation next year, so we are buying everything online in the next 6 weeks, just in time to qualify for extra bonus miles! So not only are we paying “cash” by having it comes directly out of our checking account, but we are getting miles and in most of the purchases, 4-6 miles per dollar! Woo hoo, I call that getting our summer vacation for free by smart Christmas shopping. It also helps to make our Christmas budget feel like so much more. :)
