Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42 NKJV
We all know the story or Mary and Martha, don’t we?
This week for the Homemakers Haven, I want to encourage you during this busy week of Thanksgiving preparations to remember not to neglect the one thing that is needed most: time at Jesus’ feet.
I know in my life, when things get busy, my time with God seem to be the first thing that gets neglected. Have you ever heard that saying that goes something like skip a day in God’s Word, you notice, skip another and everyone notices? I am not sure exactly how that goes, but I am sure you get the point!
Let’s remember that preparing and serving are certainly not bad things, but they often times lead us to skip over the best thing!
I hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving and that you will join me in choosing the good part that will not be taken away from us!
