I don’t have much time to put up my typical post for The Homemakers Haven today, as the holiday countdown has begun and I am busy!
But I do want to share this discovery I had while reading this book during my devotional time.
We don’t really know much about Mary because Scripture doesn’t tell us much. There are facts that have been found based on historical customs and events that tell us a little more about Mary, one of them being that Mary was a poor and lowly servant. In the chapter titled The Maiden Mary, written by Martin Luther, he pointed out that most likely Mary was doing the ordinary chores of cooking, cleaning, and laundry when the angel Gabriel appeared to her.
Imagine that. While Mary was tending to the duties of home, an angel saw fit to interrupt her with a message from the Lord regarding one of the most important and life changing events of the world.
So while you are mopping the floors, wiping runny noses, warming cold hands, and doing yet another load of laundry remember this today. You don’t have to be anywhere other than where God has you to hear His voice. He speaks to you in the ordinary, in the everyday, in the moments you least expect it. I pray that He speaks mightilty to you today as you make your home a haven.
What are you doing to make your home a haven this week? I invite you to share in the comments, or on your blog and link back here in the Mr. Linky below. Please be sure to mention the Homemakers Haven in your post!

Hi, today, I’m trying out a new recipe – I’ve been buying it for ages and decided it ws too expensive (it’s a kind of pork stew with potatoes and mixed vegetables) and sounds just right for Winter. I want to make meals that taste good and are rather more modest than I usually make.
This year also, my future husband said, hey, let’s make your (newly renovated) apartment look nice so that’s the plan this year.
How I wish I was “stuck at home” – I just never can understand women who say that!
So often I hear women complaining that they are “stuck” at home. I’m sure Mary was glad that day to be stuck at home. Sometimes the everyday truly is miraculous
I spruced up a corner of my kitchen that REALLY needed it. Yes, it’s an ordinary thing but it makes me feel good knowing that it is clean.
That is such an inspirational post!! I have had to cut down on blogging to make time to enjoy the season with my family as well.
You have some great things to say and pass along. I enjoy reading your posts very much.
Thank you for this. This was a much needed post.

Such a great post! It is such a blessing to see how God spoke to Mary when she was fulfilling her duties. An inspiration to us!
Thanks for sharing these thoughts!
