To those of you who run our stores, malls, and restaurants, may I have your attention:

As a Christian, I believe in being bold in my faith however I try to pick my battles to fight with this world I live in. There are many battles I choose to turn the other cheek to. But I have something I am just plain tired of battling. That something is dirty, rotten, filthy music blasting over store and restaurant radios. I hope you are listening, marketing managers, because this is a battle I am choosing to fight.

Yesterday my husband went out to Margaritas to enjoy some time together. As we were eating, the music got turned up so loudly that it was difficult to talk in a normal tone to one another. Then what I heard made my jaw hit the floor. This song used the “F” word several times, as well as many other explicit words to describe…well I won’t even get into it. But it was vile, crude, and I found it to be highly offensive. I told my husband I was speaking up. I didn’t come out to a restaurant to be bombarded by filth. Thankfully we didn’t have our children with us, or I wouldn’t have waited for the waitress to come around and see if “everything was ok”.

“That’s quite some music you are playing here” I told her. She agreed that it was horrible, and I shared with her that I would have been furious if my children had been with us. They turned it down, but kept the song on until it was over.

This isn’t the first time we have been out and this has happened. I cannot believe that restaurants and stores would even stoop so low as to have something like this playing loud and clear. I have walked out of stores before when I walk in and there is music blasting so loud I can’t think straight. Who is running these places anyway? What kind of marketing scheme is it? I just don’t understand it! Even if I wasn’t a Christian, I would find it offensive!

And as for the young girls and women working in restaurants showing too much skin, guess what? I am choosing to speak up to you too. I don’t want to see your half naked body, and I don’t want my husband and children to see it either.

It is time that these places where I spend my hard earned money get a dress code and have some class or I will take my businesses elsewhere, thank you very much.
